Subject: [*] Asset Basset 2.3

Asset Basset tracks your assets. It will keep track of a wide range of
information about your investment world. For
each investment, you can see the tax-basis in your investment using
either the average-cost or first-in-first-out
method, the capital gains you've taken, the potential capital gain left
in the investment, the distributions,
out-of-pocket investment, and, of course, the total profit to date. You
can see the performance of the underlying
security, and of your management of that security using measures of
profit such as the internal rate of return which
weigh the time-value of money. You can generate annualized reports like
those required by the IRS for capital gains
and distributions reporting. Asset Basset also allows you to define
portfolios composed of your investments, and to
track portfolio performance. The portfolios may be defined by any
combination of the following investment criteria:
location (foreign or domestic), style (value or growth), size
(large-cap, mid-cap, etc.), type (stock, bond, etc.), and
risk-level, as well as by your own keywords. Most notably, you can
allocate percentage amounts of a category within
an investment. For example, if you own a balanced fund that invests 40%
in bonds and 60% in equity, you can indicate
that allocation in the account record. If you then choose to track the
performance of your bond investments, Asset
Basset will know to attribute only 40% of the value of the balanced fund
to your bond "portfolio." By enabling
percentage allocations within an investment, Asset Basset lets you
monitor the allocation and performance of your
investments with a precision limited only by your knowledge of your own
investments. Shareware fee: $13 (the beta
version has a free option).

Requires Hypercard 2.1 or better; Hypercard 2.3.5 is preferred, since
that's the version I used for testing. Some
features will be slow on a non-PowerMac (a math co-processor will help),
although in theory it will work on a Plus.

Subject: [*] AutoShare 2.4, a freeware list server

AutoShare is a robust and speedy list server and auto-responder for the
Macintosh. Available for both 68K and Power Macs, requiring little memory
and tested with Mac OS 8.1, AutoShare can handle hundreds of mailing lists
and thousands of subscribers for each list. Full scriptability is
supported, and an Admin application with balloon help makes it easy to
configure the richly featured server application.

The AutoShare archive comes complete with script samples and documentation
covering features such as multiple preference sets, fully automated web
archives, remote administration by email, subscriber and administrator web
forms and advanced mail-back confirmations. AutoShare is the only Macintosh
list server offering a built-in automated bounce and unsubscribe module,
supporting both hard and soft bounces. It can be used to launch external
applications and includes built-in Cron support. Process extenders, often
small AppleScript applications, allow the administrator to extend the
AutoShare server's normal processing.

Version 2.4 introduces several additional process extender types, a
vacation process extender sample, bounce module enhancements plus minor
improvements and bug fixes. The AutoShare web site at
<http://www.dnai.com/~meh/autoshare/> offers information on releases and
discussion lists.

Subject: [*] BOOM 1.1.2 Update (smaller updater)

BOOM 1.1.2 Update

This update provides version 1.1.2 of Factor Software's game BOOM.
In order to use this update you must have BOOM version 1.1 or 1.1.1 already
installed on your disk.
You don't have to be a registered user to use this update.

BOOM is an arcade game in the grand tradition, bringing the playability and
feel of the glorious 8-bit consoles on the Macintosh. It can be described
as "Bomberman meets Doom". Actually, I took the basic Bomberman idea and
dropped it in a
"Super-Deformed Doom" scenario (whatever this means). As a space marine your
mission is to penetrate 8 alien infested areas, each one divided in 10
sub-zones, eliminate all enemies using your bombs and finally kick the Big
Alien Boss back to where he came from.

BOOM's main features are:
- Smooth sprite based animations in 256 colors
- 8 different soundtracks and multi-channel sound effects
- Simultaneous two players action
- 80 different levels
- 10 different enemy characters varying in intelligence and weaponry
- Mid-game monsters and a final Super Boss

System Requirements
68030/040 or PowerPC;
4.5 MBytes free memory;
Mac OS 7.0.1 or later;
640x480 or larger monitor supporting 256 colors;
Sound Manager 3.0 or later.

Recommended Configuration
=46ast (25Mhz or better) 68040 or PowerPC;
Mac OS 7.5.x or later;
Sound Manager 3.2 or later on PPC machines.

What's new in BOOM 1.1.2
    - Fixed a bug, introduced with version 1.1.1, that caused occasional
freezes on certain machines. Apparently, the bug was related to the latest
implementation of the music drivers (MADLibrary) and the freezes occurred
when disposing of a music track without resetting the associated driver
first.

Changes from BOOM 1.1
    - Recompiled with CodeWarrior=AE Professional release 3.
    - Recompiled with the latest updates of the Sprite Animation Toolkit
and the MADLibrary (music drivers).
    - Optimized the size of some graphic resources.

Subject: [*] CP290 Director 1.1 - Control of X10 CP290 Home Automation Syste

Announcing the initial release of CP290 Director. CP290 Director is
Macintosh software that controls the original X10 home automation computer
controlled interface, model number CP290. It completely replaces the
Macintosh software that comes with the CP290, and has unique features not
found in other Macintosh-based CP290 controllers such as MouseHouse and
Xtension.

CP290 Director does not have to be running at all times to control the
CP290,since it takes advantage of the CP290'S ability to store events for
later execution. In addition to the standard CP290 features, CP290
Director supports the following additional features: 1) the ability to
specify that an event is to occur at sunrise or sunset (plus or minus a
specified time interval); 2) the ability to specify a specific date on
which an event is to occur, and optionally the interval in days thereafter
that the event should be repeated; and 3) the ability to specify that the
event should occur only on even days or on odd days.

System requirements:
* System 7 or greater
* Macintosh with at least 4 MB of RAM

useful for presenting any subject with multiple sub-topics. It costs $0

Here is Jon's Commands 2.0.5. The primary changes in this release were
made to the copyFile command. I had inadvertantly left a DebugStr command

which was causing some non-existant file names to be unrecognized. I also
fixed a custom disk icon stomping bug and some file handling in the string

Subject: [*] medical billing and scheduling software

A completely redesigned medical billing and scheduling software product,
THE MEDICAL BILLING CIRCLE (tm), was recently released for Mac and Windows.
This completely new development is especially designed to take advantage of
the high performance hardware now available.

Advanced features such as multitasking, projections, reductions,
selections, set arithmetics, automatic job execution etc. etc. makes this
package look a very serious contender.

A very strong aspect of this product is the hierarchical handling of policy
conditions per Carrier, Patient and Claim that propagates automatically
into Charges resulting in a very high percentage of automatically
precalculated Postings. The Medical Billing Circle(tm) is described by its
publishers as a major breakthrough in medical database technology and can
best be defined as 'plug and play relational'. It provides unparalleled
data navigation possibilities between all files.

Subject: [*] SwitchRes 1.4 (french version)

SwitchRes is a control panel that allows you to control the resolutions
of all your displays. A Control Strip Module and a Contextual Menu
extension are bundled. You can change all your resolutions with just
one mouse click on the Finder desktop, or just by pressing one key.

It also allows you to:
* use *all* avaiable resolution of your video cards, not only those the
  MacOS choose for you
* automatically switch resolution and color depth of all monitors when
  launching an application
* position the desktop icons where you want, at every resolution change
  and at startup
* configure the menus by choosing which resolutions and what bitdepths
will be displayed (Control Strip Module menu, Contextual Menu)

and a lot of other features...

SwitchRes requires MacOS 8, and a multisync monitor may be useful...
It is distributed as a $9 shareware.

New in this version:
* The SwitchRes Control Strip Module becomes optional. You only need to
  install the Control Panel.
* Instead of the Control Strip, an icon can be displayed in the System
Menu bar to give you access to SwitchRes from within all applications
* A Contextual Menu Extension is bundled, that allows you to change the
resolutions of all your displays with just one click on the desktop
* You can assign a key shortcut to a display set. Enjoy changing your
resolutions by pressing just one key !
* The Appearance of the Control Panel has slightly changed. The Control
Strip module is now distibuted in FAT binary.

Bugs corrected:
* All resolution changes are correctly applied whether the Control Strip
  is visible or not
* Popup windows are correctly restored after starting up your computer
  in a previously unavailable resolution

Subject: [*] SwitchRes 1.4 (US version)

* SwitchRes is now working even if you installed SpeedDoubler 8
* Lots of other minor bugs have been corrected too.

There are an english, a french and a german version.

Subject: [*] WebChecker 1.2.0

Author's email address: jbkezer@kagi.com

Do you have web pages you check frequently? WebChecker will help you!

WebChecker is a utility program designed to help you manage web pages you
check frequently. It will check to see if a web page has been modified, and
will notify you - or even automatically launch your favorite web browser -
when it detects any changes.

WebChecker then monitors the web pages you visit with your browser, and
marks them as "Visited" if they're part of WebChecker's list.

WebChecker requires Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer and
an internet connection using either Open Transport or "Classic" Mac TCP/IP.

Version 1.2.0 has the following changes:

- Fixed crashing bug when parsing very large web pages.
- Fixed importing of bookmarks from previous versions.
- Added extended checking method.

Shareware; $15 registration fee suggested. It can be downloaded from
(http://www.kezer.net/shareware.html).

Subject: [*] Witchdoctor 1.0.1

Witchdoctor is a program that allows the user to manipulate files in
several way by means of plug-ins. It has two kind of plug-ins: Watcher (the
plug-in that does everything) and Module (a plug-in containing resources).
You may create plug-ins, quickly and easily using Witchdoctor itself. After
its creation a Watcher can perform up to five series of actions:

1) Nothing. Two ways file conversion (docA<->docB). One way file conversion
(docA->docB, docB->docA). According to file opened, and following the
plug-in setting, Witchdoctor may change Finder Infos, add resources from a
Module or may zap the whole Res Fork. For example: up until now in order
to create self-extracting compressed archive, you need to open the
document with whatever program goes with it, then save it as a
self-extractor. Now instead, after you've created the appropriate plug-in,
you can just drop the document on Witchdoctor, and it will output a
self-extractor, and vice versa. You may also create simple de-sea plug-ins
or else custom plug-ins to just change types and creators of specific files.

2) File filter. The Watcher, here, may stop itself or else continuing
according to its setting.

3) Nothing. File's Finder flag bits changing (stationery, locked, invisible
and so on). The Watcher allows you to change all bits or else what you want.

4) Nothing. Type and/or Creator changing. Unlike the first action, here the
Watcher may change without perform any check.

5) Nothing. File deletion. Direct file launching. File launching by means
of alternate applications. File duplication. File trashing. File copying.
Alias creation.

You may select manually the plug-in that should work, or let Witchdoctor
choose the appropriate one. In a few words plug-ins creation is limited
only by your creativity. By using a bit of fantasy you may create plug-ins
for (little) security erasing, or to launch a self-extracting archive after
its creation, or to open all dragged files by using one alternate
application, or to open any dragged file by using several alternative
applications. And so on...

Last but not least, Witchdoctor may create Witchcraft! Witchcrafts are
stand-alone applications containing a Watcher and, optionally, a Module.
You may create Witchcrafts as 68K, PPC or FAT application type. They work
just as a Watcher selected manually. As bonus Witchcrafts may contain
custom About boxes.
Both Witchdoctor and Witchcraft may work on folders!

Witchdoctor is Internet Config aware, Appearance Savvy and requires at
least System Seven to run. Think different, use Witchdoctor!
