Sacha" Subject: a2basic-translator-09.hqx for MacOS 10.2.x and later File: /cmp/a2basic-translator-09.hqx Project: a2basicTranslator v0.9 (freeware) Copyright (c) 2004 syndrome3D. All rights reserved. Released 2004-05-02, Sunday May 2nd 2004 Author: Louis C. Sacha URL: http://www.syndrome3d.com/dev/ The a2basicTranslator application allows Applesoft BASIC program files created on Apple II computers to be converted into human-readable text program listings, providing functionality similar to the BASIC "list" command. This application will run on MacOS 10.2.x or later. This 0.9 version of a2basicTranslator is capable of reading and converting most Applesoft BASIC programs. Any uncorrupted program should translate correctly, and some corrupted programs which contain extraneous bytes or duplicate program lines can be translated (although the resulting listing will reflect those errors). A forthcoming 1.0 version will provide more control over the translation process, allowing programs with more serious file format errors to be translated as well, however there is no firm date when that will occur (which is the reason why this older build of the application is being released). #### BINHEX acme-filters-236.hqx **** From: Boston84@aol.com Subject: Acme Filters_236 Acme Filters 2.3.6 (C)1997 by Eric V. Curtis All rights reserved Acme Filters takes the place of many separate freeware/shareware utilities you may be currently using. It started out as a simple file converter to translate some old Smith-Corona word processor files into text files I could use on my Macintosh. Then I realized my code would make a good shell for any type of drag-and-drop filter. So, I combined several filters I occasionally use into one "all-purpose" drag-and-drop application. Full source code is also included so you can add your own filters or modify the included filters. It uses no complex math, but simply encodes one document (the target) by using a second document as a reference document or a 'one time scratch pad', as they call it in the cypher biz. Cyphercard does not just use simple pointers into the reference document, but modulates those pointers using offsets which are also taken from that document. It uses various other encoding techniques as well. None of this is complicated or tricky. It doesn't need to be. The security of the code is not compromised at all by knowing exactly how it was coded. All the security comes from the fact that the code depends on the reference document and the password. The upshot is that anyone who knows which reference document and password to use can decode any document that was encoded with that reference document and password. Anyone who does not know that document and password will not be able to decode the target document. Cyphercard requires a PowerPC Macintosh and Hypercard 2.4. #### BINHEX data-converter-13.hqx **** From: bdurand@artic.edu (Brian Durand) Subject: DataConverter 1.3 DataConverter is a fairly simple, yet powerful, program for parsing large fixed record length datafiles (i.e. each record is defined as containing a certain number of characters) into tab or comma separated data files which can then be imported into most Macintosh database applications. Date: Thu, 26 May 1994 18:06:27 +0100 (MET) Data Parser 4.1 Data Parser is a nifty ÔlittleŐ stack for transforming data from Column format to Delimited format or to change the delimiter of your data file. Why should you want to do that? Well, basically because the statistical software you use wants the data in a specific format. E.g. a certain widely used statistical package for mainframes likes its data to be in column format, while a widely used spreadsheet for the Macintosh wants its data in ÔTabŐ or ÔcommaŐ delimited format. (OK, a spreadsheet is NOT statistical software, but it just goes as an example.) Although most statistical software offers services for the exchange of data between packages, usually, at least in my experience, the one you need just isn't there. So faced with the need to move data from a mainframe to my Macintosh, and the complete lack of portability of the data files I conceived, created and wrote Data Parser. Do NOT rename data parser, at least ont function in it relies on the fact that the stack is named "Data Parser 4.1" Data Parser NEEDS Hypercard 2.1 or later. It has been tested on a Classic running system 6.0.7 with 2.5 Mb of RAM and Hypercard 2.1 Data Parser is Use ware, if you find it usefull USE it. DataProtector's one-way hash function can be used to provide context specific password features such as requiring management validation for large orders or checks; password verification for access to sensitive data; and any other function where a password can be stored within a data file. DataProtector's digital signature function can be used to verify that a particular piece of data was created by the person who claims to have created it. Usually it is desirable to assign a Mac file "Type" and "Creator" code to such files, so that they can be operated upon, or merely viewed, by an appropriate Mac application. Unless you are prepared to inspect the contents of the file itself and deduce an appropriate Mac type/creator, the only evidence for the type of the file is the "filename extension" commonly used in DOS, OS/2, Unix and other systems. It has no User Interface, simply drop a MacBinary file on it and it will be decoded, drop any other file or folder on it and it will be encoded. MacBinary II+ should be fully compatible with all current MacBinary encoders/decoders, and extends the format to include folder hierarchies (although no other decoder will be able to decode folder hierarchy MacBinary files created by MacBinary II+). Version 1.0.1 corrects a problem that stopped MacBinary II+ from recognizing MacBinary I files. I don't normally like posting such a minor change, but since I don't have any grand plans for the program anyway, and since the problem is fairly noticable, I decided to post this fixed version. MacBinary II+ should work on any System 7 Mac. If it doesn't, let me know. MacBinary II+ is free for any use. Hope its useful to someone, Peter. It's hard to find, and certainly it's harder to have to make it fit into your code. This code is completely free, and may be used for any purpose. The OSAX is a simple interface which enables the code to be used via Applescript. I use it so that I won't have to install Stuffit? from Alladin on each of my work machines. This also makes scripts easier to write, as there aren't ever any problems locating StuffIt. The project file is a CodeWarrior Pro 5 project, so you for those that are using CWPro4 or earlier, you'll need to create a project. #### BINHEX mac-binhex-osax-11.hqx **** From: seanh@unforgettable.com Subject: MacBinHex OSAX 1.1 MacBinHex OSAX 1.1 written by Sean Hummel version 1.1 fixes a bug in the decoder, and improves speed considerably, of both the encoder and decoder. Have you ever looked around for some good HQX code so that you could include creating HQX files in your automated process? Well this is it. While I'll admit it is not the fastest code in the universe, it is certainly easy to read, and fairly well documented. As well as being free, this gives you everything you need to make an HQX program. The code supports both encoding and decoding, however the encoding DOES NOT do RLE compression, but the decoder does support decoding RLE compression in the HQX file. I've included the binhex.txt file, which I used to write my code from. The OSAX ditributed here, is completely free as well, and may be used for any purpose. I use it to remove the use of StuffIt? to encode distributables, from my Applescripts. This makes my Applescripts correctly all the time, as there are not any problems locating the StuffIt application. #### BINHEX mac-cpio-02.hqx **** From: "Vince Paragano" Subject: MacCPIO v0.2; a CPIO archive creator utility Date: Tue, 15 Mar 1994 14:06:18 -0600 --========================_12745404==_ Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" MacCPIO is a quick and dirty CPIO archive creator utility. MacEncrypt will allow you to encrypt files using the "Data Encryption Standard." Encrypted files can only be used if you know the password. Groups of files can also be encrypted into an encrypted archive. MacEncrypt can be placed on the desktop next to the trash can and files can simply be dropped on top of it to be encrypted. Features added with this release include: o A single executable that runs on all Macs. Color will be used on color Macs. o Archives. Multiple files can be archived in a single archive file with a single password. o Reusable passwords. Multiple files can be encrypted or decrypted with a single password. Previous versions required that you retype the password for each file. o File shredding. Files encrypted with previous versions of MacEncrypt were susceptible to viewing with low-level disk editing programs if the encrypted files were kept on the same disk. "Extra Security" is now an option. This feature will overwrite the place on disk where the encrypted file used to be so that it will never be readable by anything. o Archived items can be left or deleted after archiving. MacEncrypt is shareware. The shareware fee is $10.00. The program continues to be supported, developed and improved. Registered users are informed of free upgrades. Site licenses are also available. I haven't had an occasion to use either program, so I can't say whether either works or not. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR MacZOO 2.1 1/7/92 The interface to MacZOO is a command line interface -- sorry, but we wanted to modify a minimum amount of the code written by ZOO's creator, Rahul Dhesi. After double clicking on the MacZOO icon, type in the command line arguments as described in ZOO.MAN. For example, if on a UNIX or MS-DOS command line you would type "zoo a temp *.c" (which would add all files with names ending in ".c" to a ZOO archive called "temp.zoo"), you would enter "a temp *.c" in the MacZOO startup window. Also, MacZOO will not archive and compress anything but text files. Executable files on the Mac, for example, are not single files like they are on most other systems, and so ZOO would have to be extensively modified to handle them. Thus, MacZOO is intended as a program to handle archives of text files which will be transferred among various machines. Since ZOO runs on UNIX machines, OS/2 machines, NeXTs, Amigas, Ataris, and MS-DOS machines, Macs can now handle ZOO files created by these machines and vice versa. Even Apple II's and CP/M machines have unZOO programs. ZOO 2.1 was ported to the Mac by Jim Wolff and Brooke Anderson, who assume no responsibility for the results of using MacZOO -- even if it causes your computer to explode, killing everyone within a several block radius. #### BINHEX mailto-quickey-set.hqx **** From: (Michael C. You can customize PKZIP Mac's settings with a variety of options. For example: use a faster compression method for speedier operations, use a higher compression ratio to save the most disk space, or use passwords to prevent unauthorized access to your most sensitive files. PKZIP Mac is a program for compressing data files. Compressed files take up less disk space. Compressed files are stored in a single Zip Archive. You could think of a Zip Archive file as an envelope for files. When a file is compressed, a copy of the file is placed into the Zip Archive. Putting files in a Zip Archive makes your file lists less confusing. Many files can be included in one Zip Archive. #### BINHEX privacy-encryption.hqx **** Date: Wed, 05 May 1993 12:37:22 EDT From: "Paul D. It will take greyscale Pict files and convert then into 3D DXF terrain files that you can export to almost all popular Mac 3D rendering apps. New features include: The program now draws in true 3D (with optional perspective) instead of isometric. Terrain can be rotated to any of 64,800 views instead of just, um, four. Predefined views (front, side, top, etc.) let you see your model's true proportions. Pictures can be pasted from the clipboard or opened from files. A "clipping plane" can be used, which will omit all polygons below a certain altitude. The display now offers your choice of colors. Now saves DXF files much MUCH faster. Will optionally strip leading spaces from DXF files, to make the files smaller. Even unstripped DXF files are somewhat smaller than they used to be. Sports a slick new animated splash screen. Sports several slick new interface graphics. And finally, Terrainman now sports a slick new PRICE: $10. Since it's operating at the driver level and nearly all programs talk to the HD through the driver, everything gets "compressed", and theorectically, this process should be totally transparent (not so with any other types of compression programs) and there should be no compatibility problem with those programs (provided the driver is bug-free, of course). In reality, however, this's not entirely the case (all softwares have bugs - bug-free softwares are just not humanly possible), although TimesTwo does fulfill most of its promises. ZipIt is fully compatible with all versions of PKZip, WinZip, and Info-Zip. In addition, ZipIt allows you to compress Macintosh files without losing essential Macintosh data. This is the new port of the fine Info-Zip's Zip and Unzip. The GUI is very simple. It was not my intension to make a fullblown GUI, however I think it's comfortable enough to use it as regular tool. This port supports also Apple-event.So you can install it in your WWW-Browser as a helper-app. Binaries/Sources can be also found at: http://www.sitec.net/maczip/download/ MacZip100b5C.hqx -> crypt version MacZip100b5NC.hqx -> non crypt version I think I'm very close to a final release of MacZip 1.00. If you have any problems/questions don't hesitate and send a email to me. Most important / features are: The complete set of macintosh finder-info is stored: FXinfo, Mac-Pathname, file-dates and Finder-Comments are now stored in the extra-field. Extra-field layout is changed accordingly. Unzip uses now the filename stored in the extra-field when unzipping. Crypt-code added. It's now possible to encrypt/decrypt archives. It's now possible to stop the run of Zip/Unzip with the well known shortcut [Command] + [.] System requirements: * System 7 * any Macintosh For more information visit my Web page: Homepage: http://www.sitec.net/maczip/ Thanks, Cheers Dirk Haase d_haase@sitec.de
