Subject: [*] Batch FTP v2.61

Batch FTP is a script for Peter Lewis' Anarchie program. It allows a user
to batch-download a list of files (such as one generated from a new or
recent files list) from an FTP server. Before you dismiss this script with
others of it's kind, read on...it has some features I haven't see elsewhere.

Features:
 --------
* Handy: Files to be downloaded don't need a full path. You can specify
one base path that will apply to all files in the list.
* Smart: Automatically retries minor errors.
* Customizable: Remembers the base paths for up to 4 of your favorite sites.
* Easy: Options to use the preferred info-mac or umich sites specified by
Internet Config

Version History:
 ---------------
2.61 - Public Release 12/25/96. Fixed bug introduced by using "geturl."
Should be fully compatible with Anarchie 2.0.1 now.

2.60 - Updated BFTP to work better with Anarchie 2.0:
* Uses "geturl" instead of "fetch url" because "fetch url" doesn't name
files correctly under Anarchie 2.0.
* Handles Anarchie's new window naming scheme (BFTP 1.6 would not close
windows when retrying under Anarchie 2.0)
* Added the ability to retry in errors that require user intervention.

Subject: [*] Blood Bath Demo 1.85

Underworld Software presents Blood Bath, a fast paced, shoot-em-up game
that pumps fast, fluid, full-screen video into the heart of the Mac. But
forget all the partial company fluff, let's hear what the critics are
saying:

"This game has the same primal appeal that makes Doom such a popular
title." MACHOME JOURNAL - Editors' Choice 1995

"Most games of this kind animate so slowly and so jerky, it's almost
impossible to play them, much less have fun. This is not the case with
Blood Bath. Everything is smooth and fluid, enabling you to concentrate on
blasting the enemies instead of waiting to see if you hit your target or
not." DIMENSION 3

We've slashed $20 off the price of Blood Bath. It's now available for only
$19.95 ! !

Subject: [*] CDFinder 1.2

CDFinder catalogs CD-ROMs, ZIPs, floppies, SyQuests, and everything else
that turns (even your file server..) and allows you to search for anything
in those catalog files.

It is very fast, supports drag&drop, is PowerPC native (but also fast on
any other Mac with at least a 68020 CPU), and is bilingual (English/German).

CDFinder is shareware (15 US$ for a single user license) and here in
Germany already quite popular.

The new version has an enhanced user interface that prepares the look of
System 7.7. It is now also possible to drag catalog objects directly into
the Finder, thus copying them. By giving labels to catalog objects, it is
now much easier to find important files or folders. Some buttons in the
main window make it easier to engage some important functions. A couple of
minor bugs were corrected and the speed was improved a little.

Give it a try!

Norbert M. Doerner (Norbert.M..Doerner@frankfurt.netsurf.de)

May you live long and prosper!

DOCMaker v4.7.1
Green Mountain Software
Compatible with all Macs from Plus to Power PC
System 7 or greater (QuickTime & AppleScript optional)
Shareware, educational, and commercial use licensing.
See attached licensing information and order form.
2.5 mb available RAM

DOCMaker gives you the Macintosh user powerful tools for creating
self-contained and self executing multi-media documents containing
graphics, information, and links to other software and information. By
incorporating QuickTime Video, sound, AppleEvents, "Hot Picture Buttons"
and more, documents that you create can become an exciting multi-media
experience for your readers. No other software is needed by the reader
to open, print, and fully experience your documents. The "viewer
engine" is embedded into the documents to make distribution and use a
simple and easy process. Depending on the optional capabilities you
save with your documents, the actual size of the documents can be very
small.

This application that you are downloading is the full DOCMaker v4.7.1
application. It is not crippled, it is not a demo - it is distributed for
you to try out for 30 days.

You will receive the full two-disk installation after you register. The
installation disks contain extensive documentation and examples for
using DOCMaker to its fullest capability. Credit cards are accepted for
payment and the installation files may be transferred to you
electronically (please the our online order form at our web site:

======== KEYQUENCER 2.0 LITE IS HERE AT LAST! ========
If you don't use KeyQuencer, you're wasting lots of time;
anything you do with your Mac can be done faster with KQ.

KeyQuencer is a powerful and solid macro engine designed to
use very little memory. It can perform both simple and complex
tasks in any application when you press a specific key
combination. Macros are defined through a very simple scripting
approach and can be extended through external extensions. The
bundled extensions provide lots of power and can replace many
common system additions with substantial memory savings.

KeyQuencer macros can also be lauched by HyperCard,
AppleScript, Frontier, FileMaker Pro and any other application
that supports sending Apple Events. Direct links are included
for the Control Strip, Now Utilities, After Dark and other
screen savers, Cron and the CodeWarrior IDE. A Developer
Toolkit is provided for programmers who want to write their
own extensions or drive KeyQuencer from their applications.

KeyQuencer Lite is a shareware version of the commercial
KeyQuencer package, which is available from Binary Software.
The full commercial package has much more power to offer,
please read the online documentation or visit the Binary web
site at <http://www.binarysoft.com> for more information.

New in version 2.0 Lite (partial list):

- All of KeyQuencer Lite's components are performance optimized
and accelerated for use on the PowerPC.
- The KeyQuencer Engine is now a powerful stand alone extension.
The old KQ Apple Events extension included with KeyQuencer 1.2
is part of the new KeyQuencer Engine. The Control Panel is no
  longer required to run macros.
- Macros can be longer than 255 characters and are stored in
separate macro suitcases instead of the KeyQuencer Panel itself.
- The KeyQuencer Lite Editor has been rewritten. It is now much
more powerful and easier to use. The new Editor can edit both
the currently installed macros and separate KeyQuencer suitcases,
and all the file formats have been unified.

Language Toolkit Writer and Reader is a pair of programs for
preparation and reading of the foreign language interactive
multimedia lessons. This is the second part in my series of
programs for foreign language teaching and learning (the first
program I released was "Verbs & Nouns"). With the Language Writer
you can prepare the interactive lessons in minutes. To set up a lesson
you just use the set of predefined multimedia items specially
designed for the foreign language study. You can just drag and drop
these items into the convenient locations in the lesson's window,
paste pictures, movies, record sound, and enter sentences,
translation, grammar notes or vocabulary into the proper boxes.
These lessons can be viewed with the Reader program by the final
user then. There are also 4 predefined exercises' layouts for

Folks,
Tontata has just released MIDIGraphy 1.3.1 in time for Christmas.
The new version includes the following improvements;

>Changes from MIDIGraphy 1.3.0 are:
> - Added block zooming functions in the graphical mode and the mixer mode
> window.
> - New Feature: The XF or the KAR lyrics are performed in the mixer mode
> window.

Version 1.3.1 uses the same profile compiler (1.3.0) as was
supplied with MIDIGraphy 1.3.0 so hang onto the old version and move it to
the new MIDIGraphy folder before deleting the old folder. And be sure to
check for midi files that you might have left inside that old MIDIGraphy
folder also - before you delete it.
Please note that the home page url for TONTATA has changed - as
shown in the signature below. If you want to land directly on the English
home page, please add 'indexe/' - without the single quotes - to that url,
or just use the link provided at the top of the Japanese language home page.

Subject: [*] Mikey's Textures (Revision 2)

History

This is an updated version of "Mikey's Textures". As well as having a new
grey scale texture, it is now free. That's right... freeware!!! OK... so
only one person in the world was willing to pay for Mikey's textures. (You
know who you are.) I didn't have the heart to have only one person paying
for it. (Besides, I'd feel kinda silly claiming $5.00 on my taxes.) I guess
college students are not supposed to make money.

I still believe in shareware... it's just not for me. I only received
E-mail messages from two people... in the whole world. While this was
depressing, the other E-mail was from Pacific Hi-Tech. They included my
textures on the Info Mac CD. I got a complimentary CD, so I guess this
story has a happy ending.

Technical Information

These 26 textures were created with Adobe Photoshop 3.0.5 and KPT. They
were specifically designed to appear seamless. Some textures need to be
viewed in the thousands of colors mode, while the others should appear just
fine in 256 mode.

While specifically designed to be used as desktop patterns, these images
can easily be converted to be used as Web Page backgrounds.

Other Stuff

Oh yeah... just because it is free doesn't mean you can sell it. If you
intend to use it in a video game, a commercial web site, a shareware CD
rom, etc... please let me know in advance. I'll grant you permission. (I
get a warm fuzzy feeling when I see people doing creative things with my
stuff.) Other than that, you can use it anyway you like.

Subject: [*] Smart Dubbing Pro 1.2v1

Smart Dubbing Pro is the professional edition of the freeware
Smart Dubbing Lite (available in directory: /comm/inet/web/)

Smart Dubbing=81 is a software utility which enables small videoclips to
be played on a web page as they download. Smart Dubbing uses existing
animated GIF-technology to show inline movies.

Most important: this technique doesn't need special server software,
cgi-scripts, Hot Java, Macromedia plug-ins, helper applications and all
the stuff which makes it so complicated to put movement on a web page.
The software actually takes a QuickTime movie and compresses it into a
single GIF-file that can be recognised by Netscape 2.0 or higher.

Smart Dubbing Pro has several sound features. Java sound, plugin support,
sound recording, various compression schemes and Audio CD conversion.
Input sound is either a CD soundtrack, a Quicktime movie, or an
external source (this can be a microphone or line-feed, such as taperecorder=
s).
On the output side, there are two formats supported: Sun's AU format,
used in Java. And AIFF, also a very common cross platform sound format.

Smart Dubbing Pro is shareware.

Subject: [*] Snow 2.1

Update to my freeware application that plays tunes, jingles bells and
flutters snowflakes down the screen. The auto-wake feature combined with
the new backdrop provides a simple screen saver.

New in this version:
- Built-in MIDI file conversion (requires System 7 and drag-and-drog)
- Full tune menu for quick song selection.
- Music/sleigh bells in the background (while Snow sleeps.)
- Optional backdrop to improve flake visibility.
- Plays standard QuickTime video and karaoke movies.
- Supports aliases to tune files.
- Windblown flakes.

Flakes and sleigh bells should work of any Mac and System 6 or later.
Music requires QuickTime 2.0 or later, with version 2.5 or later highly
recommended for much improved sound.

Also includes a few new sample music files included with permission of
the public Net sites where I found them. Please don't distribute them
separately. URLs for some popular sites are included but be sure to ask
them before redistributing anything you download.

Standard disclaimers apply. No guarantee it is bug free. Use it at your
own risk. Your cat may go bald (no, wait, that was "Uncle Billy's Magic
Flea Dip and Radiator Sealant Elixir.")

Tiny Saver is a . It does just what a screen
saver is supposed to do and not much else. It is an application so
no conflicts but it only uses about 12k of RAM 18 of disk space.
This version is a 'background only appliation' so it only uses 12k of
RAM when it is in not actually saving the screen. Being a FBA it
will not show up in the application menu and won't always end up in
your face when you quit other applications. It is a nifty (IMHO)
blend of the features of a system extension with the reliability of
an application.

This version doesn't add any features but is mainly to update my
contact information and increase the default memory allocation to
solve a few problems on some newer PowerMacs.

Plaintalk speech recognition software. These scripts are
designed to run under the basic, minimal AppleScript/PlainTalk
setup. To use these scripts you will need:

-PowerPC with 24+ MB RAM preferred
  -16-bit audio
-The microphone included with most Macs, or other sound input device
  -PlainTalk 1.5 speech recognition software
-System 7.5 or later (Scriptable Finder and AppleScript 1.1)

More info and latest versions are provided at:
http://www-leland.stanford.edu/~dmiller/speech/dwtspeech.html

The software is provided free for your use. If you find this software useful,
consider donating some time, energy, money, or equipment to a local special
education program or try, in some way, to make technology more accessible
to humans.

You can distribute this software, but you must distribute it for free,
unmodified, and you must include the ReadMe file. Contact me first
before distributing these scripts in connection with any product, CD-ROM,
book, on-line service or any other kind of commercial or mass distribution.

This version contains many new functions. Details and separate
download of individual scripts can be found at:

http://www-leland.stanford.edu/~dmiller/speech/dwtspeechscripts.html

Please replace earlier versions with Voice-controlled Finder v1.6

Regards,
Dave

This is a a Hypercard stack that contains a number of excellent
photographs of birds which the user is asked to identify. After they have
been identified a mouse click on the photograph will reveal the bird's
name and some information concerning it.

To view the stack one must have a color capable Macintosh, Hypercard
version 2.+ and have available at least 1.5 mb of disk space. The memory
allocated to the Hypercard application shoul be at least 2300 K.

The stack may be freely distributed but the author requests that the
photographs not be used for any other purpose without hius written
permission.

X-mas Files is a weird Christmas sound I created. It combines the
haunting theme from the X-files TV show, with Christmas music and
sounds.

Enjoy this sound! It is free for you to use and distribute for
non-commercial purposes, (in other words, it=92s not to be used either
directly or indirectly for profit).
