I must have an older version though. It didn't allow that as a valid option:

/usr/sbin/afpd: invalid option -- v
Usage: afpd [ -dpDTIt ] [ -n nbpname ] [ -f defvols ] [ -P pidfile ] [ -s

I think it is recently implemented.
