I use this directory to make experimental versions of lsof available to people who know in advance what they're getting. If you see something here that interests you, please contact me before you spend time retrieving and exploring it. If you don't do that and retrieve something anyway, please don't expect it to work, and please don't expect support. If you want to know about files that appear here, subscribe to the LSOF-L mailing list, because I often send that list notifications when I add files to this directory. Instructions for subscribing to LSOF-L appear in pub/tools/unix/lsof/00LSOF-L. In general files in this directory represent pre-release distributions of an upcoming lsof revision, usually limited to one UNIX dialect. The naming convention is: lsof_..tar.bz2 where: will be an lsof revision number -- e.g., 4.99. will be a single letter, starting at A, that acts as a distinguishing mark (edition identifier) for new development distributions. It advances without notice as needed. indicates the UNIX dialect for which the distribution has been prepared -- e.g., bsdi for BSDI BSD/OS. tar.bz2 indicates the distribution is a bzip2'd tar archive. Thus, for example, lsof_4.99C.freebsd.tar.bz2 would contain the third (C) pre-release distribution of lsof revision 4.99 for FreeBSD. Vic Abell, November 4, 2004
